An introduction to pleating as a technique to be used in millinery.
Learn some of Bridget Bailey’s ways of making and using pleating. Great for a headpiece or as a decoration on a hat.
The emphasis of this course is on learning and understanding the techniques. Students will make samples which they can take home but they will not create a finished hat or headpiece.
Previous millinery experience is not necessary but basic sewing skills are required for this course.
Bridget has an international reputation for her Masterclasses and a wealth of experience, having made her first collection in 1984 for Jean Muir. In 1989, she co-founded Bailey Tomlin with an extensive list of clients, from Liberty to the V&A.
Tea and coffee will be provided and there will be a 1 hour break for lunch. Students can bring their own lunch or purchase something to eat from one of the nearby cafes or restaurants.
All materials will be provided although students are welcome to bring their own sewing kit if they would prefer.
